Aaron Tolson, Class of ’18

Aaron Tolson, LPW Class of 2018

Development Director at ACTS

Tell us a little about what you do:

Development Director-responsible for marketing, social media, website development, fundraising, grants, program support, business partnerships, and program director for Prince William Food Rescue.

What’s new since you graduated from LPW?

Since graduating, I started working at ACTS, launched the Prince William Food Rescue program, and am re-launching the Greater Prince William Food Council (started by LPW alumni Pam Ryan), and moved back to Manassas from Warrenton.

What is your favorite LPW memory?

Lots of good memories, but I really enjoyed being up on the mountain – so many great moments unique to our class (#cloggers)!

How has LPW helped you get to where you are today?

Halfway through the class I found myself applying for new jobs, but my focus shifted following the Health and Human Services day. The groundwork for bringing the Food Rescue program here and joining the team at ACTS was a direct result of that one class and its impact on me personally.

What does leadership mean to you?

Leadership is multifaceted – sometimes it looks like taking risks while others follow, and at other times it looks like simply supporting and empowering others to be the best version of themselves.

Any final thoughts?

So many great relationships exist through LPW – from my class to other classes. LPW Alumni are truly making a tremendous impact in our community, and it is awesome!

No matter your background, if you are interested in your community and making it better while making yourself and your business more successful, then take the time to participate in Leadership Prince William. It will make a difference. You will make a difference.

I can’t imagine any leadership program having more of an impact on my life, both personally and professionally, than Leadership Prince William.

You’ll forge long-lasting friendships with your classmates and alumni – and you’ll learn about yourself along the way. You’ll be provided the opportunity to look critically at how you think and behave – and develop strategies that focus on your strengths to create stronger teams and to become a more effective, compassionate leader.

The program allows greater appreciation and understanding of all facets of the community. The program demonstrates how to lead change one person at a time, one group at a time, one community at a time.

I believe that Leadership Prince William has provided valuable information about the many different aspects of our entire community as well the opportunity to participate in discussions in which leaders share differing perspectives and proposed solutions to our challenges.
