Scholarship Overview

The Leadership Prince William Scholarship Award for People of Color is made possible by a grant from the Potomac Health Foundation.

Leadership Prince William has three core values: Passion, Inclusiveness & Action. To date we have seen visible results in the areas of passion and action, while inclusiveness remained a more nebulous concept; achieved by including individuals from across many races/ages/industry sectors.

Since 2010 the greater Prince William community has been a majority-minority community. During a 2018 series of seminars hosted by Potomac Health Foundation, it came to the attention of our organization that, due to longstanding structures and systems in our society, leadership opportunities and programs like ours may have been viewed as less than inclusive. This scholarship program is meant to break down such barriers, making Leadership Prince William a more equitable a more equitable opportunity for all. With all of this in mind, Leadership Prince William is taking steps to ensure that our program participants and graduates more accurately reflect the diversity of our community.

Award Amount & Number of Recipients: Typical scholarships for the Leadership Prince William Signature Program are a maximum of $500, making these awards unique in the history of LPW. We are able to offer up to 5 full scholarships ($3,300 each) or up to 10 half scholarships ($1,650 each).

Scholarship aid may be used only for the payment of Leadership Prince William Signature Program Tuition. Payments will be deducted from the applicant’s total tuition invoice upon acceptance.
