An Inspiring Experience

The 10-month Leadership Prince William program begins in September with an overnight retreat, then continues with a monthly session October through June. The sessions are held at locations throughout the Prince William area, depending on the session topic. The information and skills imparted during this intensive program will help launch graduates into new civic and business opportunities and create a positive force for change in the community. Each session is designed to stimulate, challenge, educate and inform. You will be poised to assume an active, lead role in your organization, in our community and in Leadership Prince William itself.

Opening Retreat

Our two-day opening retreat, which is generally held at Shenandoah National Park, combines interactive discussions, team building activities and facilitated activities, The retreat is overnight and will take place on a Thursday – Friday. Leadership Prince William also uses the Emergenetics assessment tool, which is an important component of the opening retreat. The Emergenetics Profile was developed to distinctively measure how people think and behave. With this insight, you can develop personal strategies to get results.

Overall, the opening retreat is a wonderful opportunity to practice team building, get to know the other class members, and to experience the benefits of the program.

Day Sessions

Once a month from October through May–during a daylong session–participants are introduced to community issues, programs and activities through panel and group discussions, tours and simulations. Participants will enjoy increasing their knowledge through active dialogue. Running from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., the day sessions include a continental breakfast, lunch, and morning and afternoon break time.P In June, the program year closes with a daylong retreat and commencement event for the class.

Please note that participation in the opening and closing retreats is mandatory and attendance at all sessions is critical. Participants not adhering to the attendance requirements may be asked to withdraw from the program. Following is the schedule for 2016-17:
