Effective Leadership Through Interpersonal Communication

Join us for a half-day professional development workshop targeted to those in management/leadership roles who want to develop stronger human connections and improve their communication skills for greater team development and mission success.

In the words of Steven Covey, “We must seek first to understand, then to be understood.” Many of the simplest of disagreements and problems both in and out of the workplace could have been stopped far before they escalated had the participants taken the time to listen to each other and communicate effectively and with respect. What impact are your communication strategies having on your life?

Participants will be able to:

  • Identify different communication styles and determine their own

  • Develop strategies for communicating effectively with those of different styles
  • Identify elements of interpersonal communication
  • Develop effective verbal and nonverbal communication skills
  • Build rapport and encourage open communication through appropriate verbal cues
  • Understand the concept of empathy and how to use it when engaging others
  • Develop questioning techniques for better performance management discussions
  • Understand the use of effective questioning for reflection and employee growth

 Learning Methods: Self-assessments; individual and small-group exercises; role plays; facilitator presentations; and discussions.
